2020 Vision: Create Your Own Renaissance

THE MOOD BOARD FOR THE NEW DECADE

The month of holidays, reflecting, and goal-setting. But for December 2019, this typical preparation hits different. It’s the start of a new decade. We’re paying more attention than usual this year and assessing what we want to change, primarily as we reflect on what we’ve accomplished or perhaps haven’t fulfilled these past ten years. When I envision 2020 and how I want to capture the essence of the year, it’s less of a vision and more so a mood. I started asking myself, what type of presence do I want to bring to 2020? How do I want to show up in this new space? So, I created the modern-day vision board - the mood board that will simplify your goals and reminds you of the vibe you want to elude that will encourage you to stay on track all year long.

ESTABLISH A THEME FOR YOUR YEAR

The best way to manifest my story is by creating a vibe through a color palette. I chose five colors that I felt represent me right now and where I want to be in the future. I decided to name each color as well to bring those vibes into existence. I also think it’s essential to claim your narrative. The Main Statement portion is a perfect spot to write out your statement for the new year. It can be a mantra, intention, or even a quote that helps kick off your years’ narrative.

Q U O T E S

I think it’s always good to incorporate quotes in your mood board. I chose to go with two quotes that would serve as daily reminders as I navigate the next year.

V I S U A L S

Visuals are an easy representation that translates words into vibes, so naturally a mood board would be incomplete without them. I incorporated 4 photos and a profile picture in my mood board. I wanted these photos to coincide with my focus and my actions while complementing the color palette.

Staying with the idea of simplifying, I chose a few action words or goals that I’d like to accomplish and titled them.

I actually finished this section last.  For me, it’s easier to identify my goals and then to see the commonality between them.  I focused on three words that complement my action words.  Discipline, Progression, and Synergy.
